MolySym is actively developing Ball & Stick and has a number of enhancements planned for v2.0, which is scheduled for later this year. The most significant enhancements include:

• Hydrogen bonds display
• More coloring options for atoms and ribbons
• 2D ligand display
• Atom labels and annotations
• Ability to show multiple PDB structures simultaneously
• Find feature to search for matching atoms/residues
• Support for more finger gestures (2-finger twist, 3-finger swipe, etc)
• Control clipping plane
• Control background color

Development plans beyond v2.0 include:

• Molecular surfaces
• Ray-traced graphics
• Real-time screen sharing with other Ball & Stick users
